HAPPY LEAP YEAR!
I have a writing challenge for you my lovely.
Today is a special day because it only happens every four years. Leap day is a day that was created back in the Julius Caesar days and it included a bunch of complicated math (to me). And so here we are, with an extra day in the year.
An extra day to have fun, get one up on another “business” day, or you could do something to celebrate every leap year from here on out.
The Challenge
Write a letter to yourself that you will open next leap year. Simple, right?
Your letter can be to your future self. Think: advice, a pep talk, what you want to accomplish, or maybe you want to describe what is happening in your life right this moment. Here are a few reasons to do it:
Gratitude
For most us, you will not remember what you wrote today and when you open the letter, you will remember where you were and where you are when you open the letter. Fill it up with all the love and positiveness you can give yourself in the future.
Enhance Self-Awareness
When you open the letter 4 years from today, you will see how much has changed in your life. More kids, a new venture, a new home….inevitably there will be change.
Make a Memory
Give yourself a snapshot of your life RIGHT NOW as it is today. About to get married? About to have a baby? About to have a kid graduate? About to move across the country?
Take a Photo
We are living in a world where everything is documented through photo. Take one of your home, your bedroom, yourself, your kids, your family…..and then when you open it. WOW. You will be blown away. I promise.
What to write about…
- What are you excited for today?
- What trips do you have planned for this year?
- What is your favorite coffee flavor?
- What is your favorite color?
- Have you made any major life decisions that you want to write about?
- What is happening in the world today that irks you?
For my beautiful Single Mothers — Write a letter to your kid(s) for them to open 4 years from now. Give them a memory of today for them to cherish next leap year. These are keepsakes for sure. You have now created a tradition too without being “normal.”
The letter is yours to be free. Write with your heart and allow the words to flow from your pen (or fingers). I am excited for you and cannot wait for you to read them in 2020. You can write a physical letter, seal it in an envelope, tuck it away (just promise not to read it until next leap year) OR for my digital lovers, send yourself an email using — https://www.futureme.org/
Have fun dahlings and I adore you.
With love from my fingertips to your eyes,
