With glitter & gratitude
When I began this journey of entrepreneurship almost 10 years ago as a Single Mother, it was not easy by any stretch of the imagination. I have had moments of, “HOLY MOLY … I am really doing this thing” and there are days where I want to crawl up in my closet with my blankie, a sweet tea, and Netflix.
But — I got through those awful moments — I never gave up. Why? Well, one because I felt I could never show my kids that their mother gave up and two, I was surrounded by the most supportive posse of friends a girl could ask for.
These are my peeps I would like to thank who “get me” and play the “behind the scenes” roles I desire:
My favorite sister, Kimmy, who has shown me life lessons through her eyes. She is the mother who I always wanted to be, she is attentive, makes memories, laughs, and is truly the smartest sister on the planet.
My favorite brother, Junior, who will always be my big brother. You’ve accepted me for my pitfalls and never gave up on me.
My favorite daughter, Angel Cakes aka #TheDancer aka Angel, who has more confidence in her body than I have ever had in my entire life. You are one of the bravest women I know and I am ecstatic to watch how the world receives you and your badassery.
My favorite son, Pretty Boy aka Isaiah, who made me a mother and kicked started this single motherhood journey. You have taken me on a roller coaster ride that, I have a feeling, is not over yet. Know that you can do and be whatever you want and I am always here.
The DJ –– when I first saw you after all these years, I knew what was to be. You make me feel like I am Queen of the Universe and I am glad I get to be a part of your world forever. I got you always.
Jennifer for the First Watch breakfasts, the mom talks, the fun adventures and showing me that you can go through Costco without rushing even on a Saturday. You will forever be in my heart.
Patouchka for the early morning calls, for wiping my tears over the phone, for being my person to rubbing my sunburnt booty in Miami – that is true friendship people. I could not have completed this without your love and support.
Famous Paula and Famous Eric. You two have shown me love, support, and friendship unlike any other amazing couple. I wanna be famous like you when I grow up.
Katherine who is not only one of the most gorgeous women I know but a woman who has reminded me of why I started this journey. I am forever grateful for meeting you because of my addiction to the Starbucks atmosphere.
My Main Barista’s in the 7 Highway location — you know who you are. Thank for making my sad days better, my un-people days more peopley — and for keeping the best caffeinated Queen in MO. I adore you all.
Regina aka Mama Gena + Her School of Womanly Arts Posse for creating an experience that fanned my buried desires that I knew were there — just not exposed.
Sister Goddesses of Creation 2017 for holding space, giving me space, listening to me, dancing with me, and being the most divine sister circle I have ever been a part of.
My Facebook likers, my Instagram double tappers, my Snapchat darling — my readers, students, clients, and colleagues. Thank you for encouraging me to be vulnerable. Thank you for signing up for my workshops. Thank you for not keeping me all to yourself and referring me to your circle. Every single one of you has touched my life in some way.
I’m forever in awe of how you make my world special.
With glitter & gratitude,
