It is about that time again! The grass is already dead — the trees are about to match the dead grass — and we need a little pick me up!
Here it is! Here you will meet a fierce woman who is a blissful mixture of awesome sauce and a recovering perfectionist!
Meet Roshanda Pratt!
What inspires Roshanda?
The thought “I” could actually make the world a better place.
When did you know that owning a business was something for you?
Since the 4th grade I have been working towards being a journalist. When I finally decided to leave after several years in the business it was my Pastor and husband who encouraged me to turn my craft of jewelry design into a business. The start was uncomfortable but I learned something in the process. The taste of owning my time, freedom with my children and husband and determining my own salary was very attractive. I finally wanted to build my own vision and someone else’s. I decided to take the years I learned as a television news producer and show people what I learned from the inside to benefit their businesses on the outside.
What has been your greatest accomplishment thus far?
I have enjoyed helping clients discover a brand and create a media presence. However, the greatest accomplishment is discovering my own “value.”
Who has been your biggest influence and why?
My biggest influence is my family. It warms my heart that my children see me at home working. That they know you do not always have to go “work a job” but you can create what you desire in life and people will value it.
What is the one thing you suggest women can do to move forward in the personal growth with integrity and wholeness?
Learn early what you are worth and do not compromise it and create rules or as I call them your list of 10 commandments and have someone hold you accountable to it.
What inspires you most about women entrepreneurs?
The passion and heart women entrepreneurs have to create a legacy for their children by “employing” their gifts and talents.
Tell me a time when you struggled to find clarity about who you were as an entrepreneur.
This is still a work in progress. I am growing daily as an entrepreneur. But most importantly I have struggled with what I do and what I do not do. In a world when it seems like clients and people are moving towards one thing as a business owner you feel like you need to do that to. I have to remember to be true to what I believe, myself and my business model. I am also asking myself the question “Is This Who I really am?”
How do you measure success?
When I can look back at the end of the day or the end of a project and say I was true to my values, true to myself and true to the client. I gave it my all.
What five words describe you?
Passionate, Driven, Intelligent, Loyal and recovering perfectionist (although my husband may say different) 🙂
Your favorite motto is…
“The two best days of your life are the day you were brought into the world and the day you find out why”
If you could have lunch with anyone, dead or alive, what 3 questions would you ask them and why?
My faith even in business is very important to me. So if I could sit down and have lunch with anyone it would be Christ. My first question would be, seriously Lord can you tell me the purpose of the cockroach? My second question have I fulfilled everything you desired for me to do? And lastly, how do handle hurt and disappointment?
Last but not least, what is you favorite drink? **Cheers**
Almond breeze on the rocks, that’s ice.
