Be a Sexy Writer…Yes You!

Writing.

Think for a moment about all the ways writing touches your business.

Quite a bit, eh?

Writing is a skill that you would do well to master.

Right?

Or you can become another statistic and just write so so — and really I do not want that for you!

Today — if you are not writing, you are sinking faster than a rock.  To be sexy to your audience, you must write and connect with them. Engage them. Rope them in like cattle.

Just like yourself — when you read or listen to something – it either resonates with you or it becomes road kill.  It could stir up some creativity with that immaculate mind of yours.  THAT IS THE TIME. RIGHT THERE!

GO WRITE!

When you are inspired — capture it.  Put those fingers on that keyboard — voice your opinion, comment on information, and articulate fresh insights.

I carry around a small voice recorder and look like an idiot, but WHO CARES. It’s My Life — I can do what I want!

Face your fears and swing your shirt around like a helicopter:

1. Just start. Write often. You will get better every single time!

2. Become a student. Find copy that sells — scan the headlines — how are they talking to their audience — how are they influencing other — KEEP LEARNING!

3. Hour of Power! Allocate 50 minutes a day for **reading**listening to positive information i.e podcasts, audio books, or a webinar**write what you are grateful for, what you have learned, who you have helped, what challenges you, or even what you look forward to**prepare for tomorrow!

Before you know it, you will have enough material to create a product that can be sold online for additional income! CHA-CHING!

Still a bit stressed about writing?

Stop it!

This is not a college assignment where you wait until the last minute and then you turn what you think is your best work! Make it fun, make it cool!

Try this:

First -- write the way you talk.  **I hope my high school English teacher is not reading this**  If you record yourself talking and write it down, you have the start of a pretty good blog.  Who cares about sentence structure, grammar, and those other scary school assignments.

Just speak your words in short sentences.

Use simple words. Just talk.

Second -- Write as if you were only talking to ONE person.  Regardless of how many people will read it — this makes it feel conversational. Ask rhetorical questions, then answer them — just as if your best friend was sitting across from you drinking your morning coffee.

Third -- SHOW YOUR PERSONALITY! I can not express this enough.  It can be scary — just remember there is ONLY one YOU! Be yourself.  People who read what you write will know it is from YOU, even if they didn’t know when they started reading it.  Refer back to  First!

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST

Fourth — Tell a story! As annoying as — “That one time at band camp…” was — we listened because she was telling a story.  Story telling is WAY more fun to read than boring, information, that makes my eyes fall over in 2.2 seconds.  Agree?

On the fence?

What are you waiting for?

Be free! Write till your fingers bleed!!!

Those resolutions are long gone….Let’s toast with wine!

How many of you made those New’s Year’s Resolutions?

Were you pressured? It is March 1st – how many of those have you completed or are even still working toward!

Let’s re-evaluate!

Two key things to do first – look at all the pluses and minuses of 2011 – use this as a checkpoint to measure against the 2012– each year should be growing exponentially and this documentation will provide that.  After you have written it all down, fold it up and place into an envelope to open up next year at this time.

Just a little tidbit about SANG – I like lists, so I shall list here!

Four keys to achieving your 2012 goals:

  1. Make Clear and Concise goals
    1. Car – not clear and concise. What kind? What color? 2 dr or 4 dr?
    2. Home – where? How many rooms? Area? Budget?
    3. Suit – what kind? Color?
  2. Must Set Priorities
    1. Car or home? Which is first in line of priority?
  3. Detailed Plan of Action – you must know what actions need to be done to accomplish your goals
  4. Concentrate single minded on the highest tasks towards your goals – after you have the clear and concise goals, set your priorities, created the detailed plan, you now need to concentrate on the highest task and make it happen!

Five areas to set your goals (map it out for the entire year):

  1. Business Goals – 30 day, 60 day, 90 day, 6 month and 12 month goals
  2. Financial Goals – 30 day, 60 day, 90 day, 6 month and 12 month goals Debt – Pay off certain amount in 30 days, 60 days and paid off by 90 days
  3. Income Goals – How much increase you want to have in 2011? 30 day, 60 day, 90 day, 6 month and 12 month goals
  4. Business Growth Goals – How do you want your business to grow? 30 day, 60 day, 90 day, 6 month and 12 month goals
  5. Personal Goals – Take care of the most important person in the world…YOU!
You must be very specific in your goals and actions.

Anything that is brought to fruition is written down.  If you think it, you must ink it!

Here’s to you and making 2012 your “I did it” year even if it is March 1st!

Home + Work = YES YOU CAN!

Have you ever thought about working from home?  I know you have, who hasn’t.  What it takes is a certain type of person who can handle this type of position.Working from home has gained popularity over the last few years, especially due to the state of the economy.  Many companies are allowing employees to work from home due to lack of a physical space or as a perk in lieu of an annual raise. However this is not the only type of work at home job available to you. It is possible to be your own boss and if you are trying to pick up the pieces after being laid off from your previous job, there are other career avenues you can look into that will allow you to work from home or wherever you chose. Here, types of work from home jobs you should know about:

1. If you already have a job, try negotiating with your boss about working from home part-time. You never know unless you ask, right? And you shall ask for what you want!2. Network Marketing/Direct Selling is out there and there is a company that will fit you. Be sure to ask questions, find out about their leadership, and the integrity of the company! Also, you should never believe all the negative – every company has negative within it!

3. If you are crafty and looking for a fast way to get your product to people online, look into opening your own Etsy shop.

4. Become a consultant in your area of expertise. i.e. Graphic Design, Income Taxes, etc.

5. Become a Virtual Assistant – this is definitely an up and coming position because lots of people are realizing time is money and they need some more hands!

So get out there, find something you love and rock it like there is no tomorrow!

Spanish + Fear = $500 and a Brand New Car

I am not going to lie. I wanted the American Dream when I was growing up.
American Dream = Get married + Have kids + Great house +Host friends + Have a great job + Live Happily Ever After.
Did you have this dream too?  Maybe. Maybe Not. I soon realized that the American Dream was doomed, at least for me.  And I am sure you would not be here reading this, if you were living the American Dream.
Let me ask you this.
Do you often wake up mad because it is 6 in the morning becauseyou do not want to go to work? Yet you feel like you have no choice?
Don’t you despise that feeling?
What if you got up at 6AM because you wanted to? Without thepain of knowing someone controls you.
Ok Sang. That is different. I want that freedom.  I want that luxury. So what is stopping you?
F E A R is.
What are you afraid of?
Here are FIVE reasons I think you are afraid:
NUMERO UNO

Insecurity.Imagine being at a conference and you are taking notes from a GREATspeaker.  You want to be like them. Yousee yourself doing what they are doing. Yet you question yourself.

Can I talk like that person? Can I be like this? You are going to be bad before you are good and good before you are better andbetter before you are the best.

I believe in life, when you get out of your comfort zone, you gain a new comfort level.  This isnormal.
Step up and do it anyway – you will amaze yourself.  Do not look at a shortcoming as a reason NOTto do something, you can grow into anything
NUMERO DOS
Lack Personality.
You think you do not have the personality to do your ownthing.  If you say it, then it is thetruth. Bottom Line.
Let’s go back to the speaker. This person is so bubbly. Fullof life. Smiles all the time.
Why do you think that is?
Because they love what they are doing.  So LOVE what you are doing = Personality.

But here is something else hidden here.  No what personality type you have, enough isenough and you have to decide to come out the shell you are buried in.  You stop. Look around. And you decided thatit is time to turn this around, because you are not where you want to be.  Get past who you are not, and let go out thereand get it done. It’s ok to feel shy and reserved.

NUMERO TRES
I don’t have time
ALWAYS. ALWAYS. ALWAYS. **Cough, Cough** An excuse.
I think this is insulting.  Stop and ask yourself.   Whatare you doing that you have the time for that you are not producing what youwant in life? Exactly.
Time is one of thosethings – that you find when you really want to accomplish something with verylittle time.  Time is not the issue.
Time is the reason WHY you should be inbusiness for yourself.  Are you lookingat all aspects of you and your business?
WHO IS NOT BUSY!  Everyone is busy.
NUMERO CUATRO
I can’t find the money
What if I said I would give you a brand new car if you cameup with $500 by the end of the night?
Tell me how quick you can find thatmoney?  What makes sense as aninvestment, to change your life.
Never tell people you do not have the money.
Tell them you do not have enough ideas.
Tell people you are not creative enough to get the money.
Tell people you do not want it bad enough.
Be honest with yourself.  YOU have to make a choice. YOU have to decide what is best for you and your family. YOU have a hugeopportunity on your hands.  YOU know thatthe best is yet to come.
At the end of the day,you need to ask yourself – Will you stick to the course until it is complete? Do you want it bad enough or are you happy where you are?

February is the beginning…the end!

2011 was an interesting year.

Have you ever noticed every year, say around January, the year starts off great and you are full of vigor and resolutions?. Damn society for creating resolutions and brainwashing everyone.

Same here. I was one of those people until I realized that when I looked back, I had the SAME DAMN “resolutions” every year and by December 31st – said resolutions were not accomplished. WTF?

So the word for 2011 – STAGNANT

STAGNANT MOVEMENTS

  • Being a mother. This one is first and foremost because I had to make some very heart-wrenching decisions. Having that feeling of being a mother that could not handle certain situations, a mother who failed at mother hood, a mother who could not have possibly raise her child to be this way.  Yes, no matter who told me I was not a bad mother, my heart said otherwise and sometimes still does
  • Love. I found love in 2010 and I am the happiest I have been in all of XX years of life. We mesh. We connect. We get one another. We defy all odds. More to come…
  • Work. Work. Work. This is the MOST stagnant of them all. I was comfortable. I felt “safe”. Because I created the position where I was contrary to popular belief.  I worked when I wanted, went in when I wanted, worked from home when needed, but the work I was fucking awesome.  I made the paper look good. This was my downfall. My strength was my weakness
  • Stepping out. The desire to work from home, travel with my Honey, and do what what I want, when I wanted, where I wanted and work in pajamas all day was in my heart, but because of said WORK and my comfort, I forgot to step OUT of the comfort zone. So what happened. I lallygagged to get it off the ground
  • Family. However important you make NOT think it is. It is. But I discovered that even family shoots down your dreams. Family is harsh. Family is love. Family is smaller than I thought with a family of 5. Oh how I miss my mother!

So what happens in 2012 (February)

  • I write
  • I build
  • I conquer
  • No more stress
  • I let go of my fears and set my own sail
  • Run. Because I realized that when I do not get up and run in the morning, my day is blown and slow moving
  • Connect and Collaborate with other AWESOME people
  • Sit back, sip of my coffee, and create magic from nothing
  • Travel more places (I shall start with my sister’s wedding in Grand Cayman in May – please don’t be jealous)
  • Learn to understand that I am not SUPERWOMAN and I need a maid (because I hate domesticness)
  • Nurture the relationships I have
  • Continue to grow at being awesome

January has been historical. Change. Honesty. Heart. Movement. Taking a leap. Emotional Roller Coaster. Lost friendships. Anxiety. Stress. Happiness. And then my friend sent me this:

“We’re coining a new “age-old” adage: if you can get through January, you can get through anything. It may sound dramatic, but the truth is that January is trying on every level. Physically, you’re forced by society and the media to take stock of your physique and vow a hollow promise to make it better in the new year. Emotionally, you’ve just plowed through the most family-laden time of year only to realize that the light at the end of that tunnel only lasts until 4 PM because we live in the land of apocalyptic winter darkness. It’s hard. January is just plain hard.”

Thus I give January the middle finger and move on.

And that is my friends…what is going on around here.

What does your 2012 look like?
